Carter & Mason's 3rd Birthday Party

We celebrated as a family on the actual date of the boys 3rd birthday, but on March 18th we invited some of their close friends for a little get together. One of the main reasons we waited until later to celebrate is because Christin's parents decided to take some Spring Break vacation days here in Midland. It was a special treat for the boys to have their Pap and Gran in town for their party. From the start, this party was supposed to be outside at the park as the weather leading up to the date was warm and sunny. However, typical west Texas spring weather appeared and it was 45 and windy, forcing us to make a last minute switch and host the party at our house. Along with the usual riotous ritual of cupcakes and presents, the highlight for me was the pinata. The 2-5 year olds had a blast trying hard to get at the candy they knew was inside. After a few rounds the adults had to take things into our own hands as we found out they switched pinata materials from paper mache to nearly indestructable cardboard. Having a large group of 3 year olds running around our house is great entertainment for all the adults but when it was over we were ready for a nap.
