After months of waiting and not hearing much from our agency, we got the call where we were told we were picked to match with a birthmom. That happened on Sept 16th while Cameron was out of town on the MCA retreat. Sept 21st we had the match meeting with the birthmom, Shamarah, in Dallas. We stayed with our friends the Bentleys and Lindsay helped keep my boys during the match meeting. We met with 3 Buckner counselors first and then we all went into a room to meet Shamarah. We were excitedly nervous but really felt the prayers because we were able to calmly share our lives with her. One counselor, Leah, led the meeting and prompted questions for each of us to answer. Cam and I shared about our backgrounds/families, infertility, road to adoption, & goals we have for our child. Shamarah shared her background, about this pregnancy, about her other children (she has 4), why adoption, her wishes for this child, etc. It went really well. I think everyone was very honest and open about what they shared. We really like Shamarah. She has a great personality and is funny and smart. We came home to Midland after the match meeting. We were all supposed to wait 24 hours to say yes or no to the match. The next day we learned it was a match as we had all said yes! Since then we have been talking with Buckner counselors about the next steps and working out the details about the birth/entrustment ceremony/openness relationship. We have also had the priviledge of beginning our life long relationship with Shamarah. She has said some really sweet things to us as we have talked. She feels like labor will be soon, so she might not be making it to her Oct. 16th due date. We'll keep you all posted as things happen. We are so thankful for your support and prayers. We are praying that this is the baby God has for us.
Love,
Cameron & Christin
