We have been excited about getting back to the beach since our boys were born and we finally did this summer. It was really fun to take our boys to the beach for the first time! We got to go with my parents (Pap & Gran) and my brother's family. Chad & Becca have 3 kids (Hudson 6, Laurel 3, Lainey 1). We all stayed in a house in Gulf Shores right in between the beach and the lagoon, so we had water on both sides of us. We had beautiful views and perfect weather.
The best part was watching the cousins playing together all week! We live 11+ hours apart so we get our fellowship in very intensely a week at a time!
Some of the highlights from the trip were that Mason decided to swim (he was scared at the beginning of the summer and acted like it was torture to go swimming). On his own terms, he decided to practice going under water and swimming across the shallow end of the pool. The cutest part was he would count, "1, 2, 3" every time before going under! Since then he has really excelled and is just about caught up with Carter's swimming ability. He jumps off the diving board and all!
We also got a big kick out of crabbing at night. The kids were so excited the first night but eventually got the willies from stepping on crabs or having crabs run across their feet. Becca and I were a bit jumpy too! After 3 or 4 nights of crabbing we collected enough blue crab to eat. Cameron made us some yummy crab cakes! :) It makes me want some seafood. That's hard to come by in Midland.
