Adoption Update #7

Since our home study on Feb 4th, we have been waiting to receive our formal acceptance, feedback on our two profiles we wrote for the birth families to view, and my FBI background check to come in (filed in October). 2 weeks ago we received our informal acceptance to adopt domestically through Buckner. They have approved us through each stage of the paperwork process. It was an informal acceptance because they did not have my FBI check back yet. 2 weeks ago we also received our feedback on our profiles. We were thankful to receive quite a lot of feedback because it was very helpful and we had waited about 6 weeks for it. We made the changes to our two profiles (one is words and pictures introducing our family and the other is a relationship profile expressing how much we will initially commit to in our open adoption relationship) and sent those in about 12 days ago. This past weekend while in Dallas for a wedding, we received more info from Buckner that was really encouraging. We learned that my FBI check is back & cleared; they will give us feedback on our revisions this coming week; and a bit of info on some birthmom scenarios they have told us about. Though it would be fun to share those bits, for the most part we will keep the birth family scenarios to ourselves for their protection and for our future child's protection.
Thank you for your prayers our feedback to come and my FBI check to come back. We are hopeful to be able to finalize our profiles this week and be in the book by next week. We were assured by Buckner that we are not missing out on opportunities to match with a birth family right now.
