Well where do I begin? This trip was truly memorable. I would consider it our first family vacation and we all had a blast. Some friends of our were generous enough to let us use their river house on the Frio river in Leakey, TX. This area of Texas is my favorite part of the state, it really is beautiful and reminds us a little of Arkansas. This was my 8 days off between my summer Bible teaching and school starting in the fall. We took 5 days in Leakey and loved every minute of it. The boys got to catch their first fish and I'm not sure who was more excited us or them. Carter especially loved riding the 4 wheeler down to the river and around the surrounding land. Mason was a little apprehensive the first couple of days, but towards the end he was begging me to go faster. I was really wanting them to get into fishing down at the river, but there was another activity that they couldn't stay away from: throwing rocks. They could literally throw rocks for hours and hours and not get tired of it. The river is low and clear so they could wade most of it which made it really nice.
In the evenings Christin and I worked puzzles and watched the Olympics. We really relaxed and created some amazing memories. The boys have asked at least once per day if they can go back to the Leach's. Family vacations are one of the things you look forward to when starting a family so it is really exciting to finally be at the point where the whole family can talk about, look forward to, and share memories about vacations.
