On July 4th, we celebrated by taking part in the children's parade downtown. Carter & Mason rode their bikes around the block around the courthouse. We joined several other friends- Butts, Voskamps, Dunns, Beards, & Pereas. Mason wasn't feeling well and it was a little bit madness with the number of people that showed up. But it was fun to do something special on the 4th. Thanks Katie for the fun balloons.

Check out the Perea in the background: (btw-which one is it?)
The night of the 4th we had a grillout with the Voskamps and Dunns:

On the 5th, we went the the Rockhounds game (who happened to be playing the Travelers - from LR, AR) with the interns that Cameron is teaching this summer. The boys had a blast checking out the game & playground. They weren't too excited about the mascots however. Everytime one of the giant hound dog mascots got close, the boys ran and climbed up us as quickly as possible. I've never seen Mason scamper up me quite like that before! I kept trying to explain that is was just a "daddy" inside the dogs. After the game we got to see an awesome fireworks display! Since there was a burn ban in Midland for the 4th, these were the only fireworks we got to see. I love getting to see fireworks and hear patriotic music. It's very nostalgic for me and it's fun to think that I am creating that for my sons as well. It was a fun 4th of July weekend!
