Fort Worth Zoo

On the weekend of May 7th, we took a trip we've been planning for a while. The boys naturally are very into animals at this age so a trip to the zoo was a no-brainer. Christin and I were looking forward to seeing the boys' excitement as they got to see a great zoo and many new animals for the first time. We had been planning this trip with our good friends Lee and Ashlee Dunn who were wanting to take Annalee who is 3 months younger than the boys. Annalee and the boys are great friends and the boys always look forward to seeing her. Lee's parents were nice enough to let us use their house in Muenster as a home base for the weekend. This house allowed us to spread out some and is also conveniently located on a beautiful golf course. The only challenge was the fact that Muenster is an hour and a half from Fort Worth, but is was still worth it for the comfort and economy.
In order to save gas, we made the trip from Muenster to Fort Worth in the Dunn's Suburban which ended up being a riot. Lee and I struggled to wedge all 3 car seats into the very back seat but the kids didn't seem to mind a bit. The weather was actually cold and rainy most of the weekend, but it cooperated on Saturday for the zoo. We actually think that the overcast cooler weather contributed to how lively all the animals were. The monkeys were swinging, the elephants were moving, and the biggest treat was seeing the lion roar from close range. The boys had a blast standing on their stroller to see better and learning all the new names. It is hard to tell which animal was their favorite but Mason seemed to like the 'elpints.'
You really need to watch this video on Ashlee Dunn's blog. She made a great compilation of our trip in this blog post
When we got in the car, Mason sacked out immediately and Carter and Annalee hammed it up in their sunglasses. It was a lot of time in the car and a long Saturday, but the boys really had a blast.
